Hello!
My name is Andrea Ray - I’m an Architect/Designer/Crafter.
I love making things, drawing things, building things, sewing things, growing things, cooking things, cutting and pasting things...this is my portfolio/design laboratory.
My objective is making good of things damaged, unused, outdated – renewing and bringing back a sense of freshness to materials that have been rendered obsolete.
For years I have been creating things out of reused fabrics and materials from vintage and thrifted cloths and garments.
I like to think of each item as a process/restoration. Each thrifted garment (disassembled) reveals very limited amount of fabric – from that point it’s almost like a puzzle to make each piece! I rarely use patterns– and constantly modify ideas to fit onto each slice of fabric. Each item is handcrafted and numbered – to document its uniqueness! I truly enjoy making each piece – I hope you enjoy them too!
Thanks for taking a look around!
If you see something interesting…feel free to send me an EMAIL!
